Here's this week's prayer and study from Father Andrew:
Let us Pray to the Lord, Lord have Mercy.
O Lord Jesus Christ, the True Light, Who enlightens every man that comes into the world, pour out Your blessing on these candles, and hallow them by the light of Your Grace; and grant, O Merciful One, that as these lights, kindled with a visible flame, scatter the darkness of night, so may our hearts be enlightened by the glowing of the Holy Spirit and avoid the blindness of all manner of sin; so that we may see those things that are pleasing unto You, We pray in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen
Luke 2: 27 – 32 And when the parents brought in the Child Jesus, to do for Him according to the custom of the law, he took Him up in his arms and blessed God and said: “Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace, According to Your word; For my eyes have seen Your salvation Which You have prepared before the face of all peoples, A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel.”
Who was the man who took Jesus in his arms and how does his prayer related to blessing candles?
