Let us pray to the Lord. Lord have Mercy.
O Lord, in Your humanity, Your fear of death was revealed as sweat fell like drops of blood in the Garden of Gethsemane. Your obedience to Your father and Your love for us overcame that fear when You said “let it be to me according to Your word.” We have failed to overcome our fear of death, which causes us to sin. We pray that we learn to live in Your Resurrection, overcoming our fear of death so we can be free of sin and attain the life to come. We pray in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.
Hebrews 2:14 - 15 Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
How does the fear of death put us under bondage to the devil?
